Today was the final days of preparation for Operation Deltona Cares and what a day! The local firefighters, Fire Administration and high school students diligently wrapped presents for over 25 families (66+ children). Thanks to our citizens generous donations we were also able to donate to New Life Community and Guardian ad Litem for children.

Thank you Deltona for helping our Fire Department and Firefighter Foundation help so many children this Holiday season.

Operation Deltona Cares starts this evening! This is our annual event to provide Christmas for families in need. We will be at Walmart located at 101 Howland Blvd. Deltona, FL 32738 (look for the pink and camo fire trucks). We look forward to seeing you with your gift donations! If you are unable to make it, and want to donate, you can donate through our link below. All donations go directly to providing gifts for families in need! Today Engine 62 B-Shift had the honor of working with Mid-Florida Jeep Club during their “Wright’s Jeep Drive By”. The club created this event to help support Mrs. Debbie Wright who is battling cancer and needed a boost from her fellow Jeepers.
Thanks to the support of VCSO Deputies providing a full escort for over a 100 jeeps, E62 and Deltona’s Pink Truck paraded by Mrs. Wright’s providing the much needed support to keep on fighting. This was a truly inspiring event that shows how amazing our Deltona and surrounding communities are when help is needed.
Engine 62 B-Shift crew assisted Mrs. Wright with signing the truck. She was so impressed by the Pink truck she asked if crews could help her sit in the truck and they happily agreed. Gotta say, Mrs. Wright looked like a natural.

From all of us at Deltona Fire stay strong and fight on, we know you can do it.

As in life sometimes we let things pass us by and by no means should this go unnoticed. Several weeks ago we also saw another member of the Deltona Fire Department retire. Lt. Christine "Chrissy" Gallagher of "A" Shift retired after over 30 years of service to the citizens of Deltona. Lt. Gallagher's passion was the children within the community. She spent countless hours making sure that Christmas was a special time of year for many children through the "Operation Deltona Cares" project. Another favorite past time was Halloween passing out candy to kids throughout her district. Not only did the kids enjoy it but she made it fun for her crews. Chrissy you will truly be missed by everyone here at the department.. Enjoy "D" Shift.

Today marks a milestone for yet another member of the Deltona Fire Department family. Lieutenant Patrick "Fitz" Fitzpatrick of "C" Shift officially retired after 33 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Deltona. "Fitz" was known for fixing things around the station and was always busy with some type of project. He also fabricated one of the department's first brush trucks from the frame up and he was instrumental in maintaining as well as upgrading all our brush trucks throughout the years. Lt. Fitzpatrick takes with him many years of experience and leaves a pretty big pair of fire boots to fill. We wish him well and hope that he enjoys his retirement and spends much earned time with his family.

Today we say good bye to Lt. Thomas "Tommy" Carter of "B" Shift. He has officially retired after 30 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Deltona and the Deltona Fire Department. Tommy's career with the DFD has included being a member of the Special Operations Team as well as being an Advisor in for our award winning Cadet/Explorer program which he will still be a part of. He will now take the full time position of "Grandpa" which he is truly proud of as well as taking time for himself fishing and hunting. He will be truly missed by all those who worked with him. Good luck and enjoy your retirement Lt. Carter!

It’s New Year’s Eve! As you may know, and there are plenty of safety announcements out to “be safe”. We would like to reiterate that and let everyone know that DUI arrests, vehicle accident fatalities, and pedestrian accidents skyrocket on average 12% on this day alone. There is apps available on your mobile device such as Uber or Lyft, or call someone if you know you are not able to drive. Stick together, avoid excessive drinking, know your limit, and be aware of your surroundings. Be safe everyone and happy New Year!

Halloween is one of the most anticipated nights of the year for children, but also one of the most dangerous. According to Safe Kids Worldwide, on average, twice as many child pedestrians are killed while walking on Halloween compared to any other day of the year, and more than 70 percent of accidents occur away from an intersection or crosswalk. Always be aware of your surroundings, watch your child closely, and be safe this upcoming Halloween! 🎃

Just received word that this image taken by a member of the Deltona Fire Department will be featured in the 2019 IFSTA calendar. It was chosen out of hundreds of entries submitted by photographers throughout the country.

Members of the Deltona Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire with heavy flames and smoke showing upon arrival. Battalion 61, Rescue 61, Engines 62, 63, 64 and 65 battled the blaze which spread to two vehicles that were parked in the driveway. DFD was also aided by Volusia County Fire Services Engine 34 which established a water supply and Orange City FD Engine 268 was a level one staging unit. The fire was contained to the garage and stopped in the attic just above the kitchen. Two Deltona Fire Fighters were injured receiving second degree burns but returned to duty in less than two weeks. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical in nature and started in the garage. The two vehicles parked in the driveway were deemed total losses. No other injuries were reported during the incident.

It’s the weekend! And with that said, we hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. This is a reminder to drive safe during your travels. Whether it’s a trip to the grocery store, a family members house, or even a vacation you are going on, drive safe!

Today marks one of the darkest days in our modern history. Not since the most devastating foreign attack on United States soil, the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 have we lost so many, 2,996 killed and over 6,000 injured. To all those lost and to all the families who were affected by that loss, WE SHALL NEVER FORGET!

It's Labor Day weekend which means fire fighters through out the U.S. will be hitting the streets collecting for MDA this holiday weekend. Your local Fire Fighters will be out for the next several days "Filling the Boot" for this great cause so take a moment to help and drop what ever you can into the boot. "EVERY" donation will make a difference in the lives of these wonderful kids!

We would like to congratulate Fire Fighter Ricardo Garcia of "B" Shift on passing his one year probationary period. While collecting for MDA Friday our Logistics Manager Sue Houle stopped by and surprised Ricardo with his new helmet shield replacing the traditional green probationary fire fighter shield. Congratulations Ricardo, you've earned it!

The Deltona Professional Fire Fighters have endorsed Heidi Herzberg for Mayor of the City of Deltona. It has come to our attention that another candidate has decided to have individuals show up to the polls in fire department attire/helmets to hold signs. Please don’t be fooled by this tactic. If the candidate is willing to trick citizens into a vote by inferring that he has the endorsement of the local fire department, I would not be willing to see what he does in office. Vote for Heidi! And if you’re a Deltona resident, please share. If any of my FD friends are willing to come out and hold signs for a few hours tomorrow let me know. Thank you.

The service for Battalion Chief Jason Castelli will be held at Daytona Beach First Baptist Church (118 N. Palmetto Ave.) on Tuesday July 17 at 1100 hrs. If you are planning on attending the service you will wear your Class A uniform with badge covers.

Firefighters are often seen on peoples worst days and they do their best to get you all the help you need. The Deltona Firefighters recently ran a call for an elderly citizen who fell while trying to assemble his canopy carport. The on scene crew knew this would be an easy task for a couple firefighters, they feared the citizen may further injury himself. The crew offered to assemble the canopy for the citizen at the end of their shift the following day. We are proud of the men and women who serve our community and go above and beyond whether on or off duty. These actions and deeds are what make a community strong, if you see an opportunity to better someones life we encourage you to seize that opportunity. Thank you to the citizens of Deltona who give us the great honor of serving our community.

We would like to invite all of you to join us in our next "Fill The Truck" event that will take place December 5th at beef o Brady's in Deltona. Remember all toys donated will be given to kids from our own community this Holiday season. Please share our flyer with your friends and families. We look forward to seeing you there.

Heroes come in different shapes and sizes, and our buddy Cameron has proven that. This young man saved his toys and stopped by our pink truck to donate them so other kids could have gifts this christmas. Thank you Cameron for your generous donation.

We want to thank all of those citizens that have donated toys in order to help us Cary out "Operation Deltona Cares" in the upcoming weeks. If you were not able to stop by our pink truck and would like to donate a toy for the event, feel free to stop by and do so at any of our Deltona fire stations. Our deadline is December 18 and shortly after that we will be delivering all donated toys to children in our Deltona community.

Members continue this morning with our fill the truck event. if you make it out to Walmart located at the corner of Howland Blvd and state road 415 please pick up a toy and drop it off at our pink truck. All donations are used in our "Operation Deltona Cares" to provide local kids in Deltona with a Christmas gift.

We want to honor and Thank the men and women who have served in our armed forces. We are proud of every single one of you and you are always in our hearts and prayers, we also want thank those of you who have served in the armed forces and continue to serve our communities as Firefighters and Law Enforcement officers!
